Elder Dudley

Elder King

Arrived! Prince Edward Island

Hello Family, it's Elder King here from the beautiful Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. This has been an extremely long week. It all started with the flight being delayed in Detroit. We had to wait forever for customs in Halifax. We arrived at the mission home at like 3 AM.....long day. I got extremely dizzy the whole next day and was not feeling well at all. The next day was more travelling to PEI. My companion is Elder Dudley from Alberta. He is so nice and is dedicated to work! He is my trainer and he has only been out 3 months. He is awesome. All of the people here are very stubborn Catholic. It is frustrating...I've already been cussed out a few dozen times...No big deal.
We have a family we are teaching, they are from Sri Lanka. It is really hard to understand them. The missionaries here have been teaching them for months, so I am kinda getting here in the middle of everything. The missionaries were only teaching the parents, then we had a lesson to teach the 2 daughters with the sister missionaries, at the end of the lesson I invited them to be baptized on the date of their parents and they said YES! What an amazing experience! We also visit with members and less active members. We eat at their house and leave a short message. Seafood is too expensive here and the area I am in is a poor area...so YAY...not seafood!
This place is beautiful. We street contact people right on the beach and boardwalk. It is a small community, but absolutely beautiful. I do all of the driving because Elder Dudley doesn't have his license. This place is so different than home. The stop lights are red squares, green circles and yellow diamonds (for color blind people).. My mission president is very nice. He is down to earth and very understanding. I hope all goes well this week. I am not fully comfortable talking to people, but I hope will be able to get better. Well I am going to go. I love you all! Elder King.

First week in the MTC

Hey family, First day here was great! It's so great to be in a place with positive attitudes everywhere! My companion is Elder O'Brien. He is a great guy, humble and quiet. As soon as we got here, we had classes immediately. 3 different investigators with 50 elders teaching the gospel! Way Cool! I think I am going to like it here. The classes are long, but I am learning a lot. I am the Zone Leader for 5 districts. My teachers are super cool, Bro. Barton and Bro. Forrest. They are way down to earth and super nice. I wouldn't mind getting a package full of homemade treats...haha! How is everything going there? How is my dog? What is Ethan up to? I can't believe I leave next Tuesday for Canada! I leave at 6 am..ugh! Fly straight to New York with a 3 hour delay and then on to Nova Scotia. By the the way, there is an Elder here that went to Mexico with me on the humanitarian project. We play basketball everyday..its awesome! I will send pictures next week. I will write when I can. Love ya, miss ya, stay true!
